What is the Importance of Signage?

In today’s world, any successful, growing business will depend on more advertising than previously required. In such a competitive world, business owners and managers need to put in extra efforts into their marketing strategies in order to stand out from the crowd and be different. We all know that it is very important to have signage for your business and there are multiple types of signs for instance:

–          Outside signage to indicate where your business is located.

–          Directional signs.

–          Branding signs.

–          Health & safety signage.

Besides establishing effective communication with customers, and adequately advertising the products and/or services a business offers, good business signage is the most efficient and cost-effective form of advertisement to achieve brand exposure and attract customers.

A recent survey conducted by a University showed that 8 out of 10 customers admitted to entering a business simply by the way their signs were presented or by noticing a sign advertising something of particular interest.

Let’s discuss the different types of signage a little bit more and how they can be beneficial to you and your business.

Outside signage to indicate where your business is located.

These signs are essential, without a sign on your building how are customers supposed to know where you are located?

Depending on the workspace you have available you can create a stylish sign that really sets you apart from the competition. With the right choice of colours, lighting, size and position the right sign will really help you attract the customers.

Outdoor advertising signage.

Well the options are endless, depending on what you are trying to achieve and what your end goal is you can create huge outdoor ad campaigns by utilising marketing products such as outdoor flags, billboards, vinyl banners, A-Boards, Adwalkers, Custom printed Café Barriers, Roller Banners and much more.

Once you have decided on your end goal and the results you would like to achieve, depending on your business or product you are wanting to market you can then design a campaign around that, check out some of these creative examples below.

Here KitKat’s slogan is being utilised at its finest, notice that they don’t even need to use their own logo on this advertisement but you automatically recognise that this is a KitKat advertisement. Great use of the colour red which they use throughout their branding & packaging and then the famous “Have a Break, Have a KitKat” slogan. Even the guy installing the billboard has popped off for a KitKat!

Sprite have very cleverly branded a shower unit to make it appear that people are showering in Sprite. The message on the banner translates into “Refresh Your Ideas” look closely and you will notice there are a few girls walking around with sprite bottles in their hands which probably means there is a sprite vending machine or a nearby stall selling Sprite! Yet again another creative campaign which will help drive sales in the right direction.

Directional & Wayfinding signs.

This type of signage is typically found in an industrial estates or within a large warehouse.
It will help your visitors and delivery drivers find where they need to go.
You will often have large signs pointing drivers in a particular direction for deliveries and collection, or customers for reception, Car park etc.

Health & safety signs.

These signs are often mandatory depending on the type of business you own.
Some signs will indicate to staff and visitors what they need to know or the equipment they need to wear before progressing any further.

Examples: Keep Out, Clean Your Hands, Emergency Exit.
