Queue Management Solutions

Amazon go queue

The Brits find queuing second nature especially at large events, product launches & popular restaurants. However, in other parts of the world, this isn’t always the case!

Recently Amazon opened a checkout free concept store in Seattle designed to help eliminate queuing whilst removing cashiers at the same time.  The principle is that you help yourself to goods and as you leave the store your Amazon registered credit card is billed.

On opening day, locals flocked to the store to investigate the new idea and ironically had to form a queue because of the number of people that turned up!  Needless to say, Amazon had to pull out the barriers and start managing the queues!

When it comes to queue management there are a couple of options but they do the same job; to ensure your customers form an orderly queue and have access to designated areas only.

Classic rope and post barriers are the top of the range when it comes to appearance.  They not only look good but are also perfect for creating V.I.P. areas and are used predominantly in upmarket car showrooms, red carpet events and 5* hotels. These are available in polished silver and gold with a range of velvet and twisted ropes, offering an opulent appearance.

When it comes to retractable barriers make sure you pick a colour that stands out and is easy to recognise, especially if they are being used in an area where lighting is limited or a hazard needs highlighting. To maximise your brand image choose a printed belt with company colours and make sure there are no gaps when forming your lines. Perception is reality and if people think they can sneak through an opening to save time they will!

Whichever queue management method you choose it is important to ensure you are using the correct number of stanchions, posts and ropes. There is nothing worse than seeing an overstretched rope or belt and it can be dangerous.

Adopt the simplify to amplify technique, create a distinctive queuing system which is organised and purposeful, without gaps to amplify the importance of your chosen pathway and ensure the correct brand image is given to your business.

Are you ready for the dark nights?

dark nights illuminated menu cases

Autumn is officially here! That means cooler temperatures and darker nights are just around the corner. Are you ready for this time of year or could your business be missing a trick?

It is well known that the summer nights increase trade due to longer, lighter evenings but that doesn’t mean your business has to hibernate in the winter, careful customer and business analysis will ensure your business keeps it’s cool!

Put yourself in your customers’ shoes. Is your business inviting? The first thing that lets the world know you are open and welcoming is lighting. Make sure your signage is illuminated either by means of the latest LED illuminated letters or simple spot or trough lighting.

Can anybody see your menu in the dark? If not you really need to address this problem, you will never sell what nobody can see. An excellent idea is to light up your menu, invest in a menu case or menu box, these are not as pricey as you may think and are a definite asset to your business.

Once inside, your premises need to be warm; there’s nothing worse than sitting in a cold corner and freezing, I can guarantee this will not bring returning visits. If you are lucky enough to have a fire (natural or man-mad) make the most of it! Make sure it is lit and looks neat and tidy, why not add a few ‘homely’ items such as a companion or fireside set.  A fire not only make your guests feel at home but creates a cosy ambience too.

Make sure your menu reflects the season, why do you think the larger brands have dark and light night menu changes? It’s because they have done their homework. Do you really fancy a Chicken Caeser when it’s snowing outside or would a Sausage, Chorizo & Bean Casserole fit the bill a little better? Think winter warmers and you’re on to a winner!

Last but not least, make sure you add a few specials to your drinks list. Offer a Baileys or Cognac with coffee, serve a gourmet hot chocolate and remember to add a little taster on the side, maybe a brandy snap or a ginger biscuit, you will have them eating out of your hand and coming back for more! Good Luck 🙂

How to Introduce Al Fresco Dining with Café Barrier Screens

Untitled-1

Increase your sales and profits with ease, by simply creating an outdoor dining area with our very affordable café barriers. What better way to entice customers in the warmer weather than to sit outside, enjoy the summer and your hospitality.

It wasn’t long ago the British boozer suffered a blow with the smoking ban, which led to an increase in sales of Café Barrier Screens and in turn helped publicans and landlords create a comfortable area for smokers to keep customers (and profits) happy.

Café Barrier Banners are now an important addition for any hospitality establishment and with the inclusion of patio heaters you can give your customers an area that can be used all year round.

It’s incredibly easy to order Café Barrier Banners, first you will need to decide on your area and whether this is to be joined to your building or it will all be standing alone.

Measure the outer edge of your area and then divide by 1200mm, 1500mm or 1800mm, this will give you an idea of how many sections you will need.  You can mix and match widths and remember to allow for an opening to enable your guests enter!

Once you have an idea of how many sections you require you can then establish how many poles/stands you will need, (2 per banner is usual unless fixing to a wall) and whether your budget will allow two cross rails per banner or just one.  It is a requirement of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) to have two rails, but if this doesn’t apply to you then you can opt for the Eco Barrier and fix the bottom of your banner with cost effective bungee fixings.

Banners are a great way of getting your name out there! We print onto three types of banner material including a mesh PVC for the same cost, all are suitable for our good ole British weather, you will just need to choose your preference and decide what you would like printing on them.  Logo’s, name of your business or simply coffee cups all look great, don’t go for promotions or special offers as you will need to change your banners too often.

Our wonderful sales team is always on hand to help, if you have any problems please give them a call on 01353 665141, they will be happy to hear from you and advise 🙂
