Are you ready for the dark nights?

Autumn is officially here! That means cooler temperatures and darker nights are just around the corner. Are you ready for this time of year or could your business be missing a trick?

It is well known that the summer nights increase trade due to longer, lighter evenings but that doesn’t mean your business has to hibernate in the winter, careful customer and business analysis will ensure your business keeps it’s cool!

Put yourself in your customers’ shoes. Is your business inviting? The first thing that lets the world know you are open and welcoming is lighting. Make sure your signage is illuminated either by means of the latest LED illuminated letters or simple spot or trough lighting.

Can anybody see your menu in the dark? If not you really need to address this problem, you will never sell what nobody can see. An excellent idea is to light up your menu, invest in a menu case or menu box, these are not as pricey as you may think and are a definite asset to your business.

Once inside, your premises need to be warm; there’s nothing worse than sitting in a cold corner and freezing, I can guarantee this will not bring returning visits. If you are lucky enough to have a fire (natural or man-mad) make the most of it! Make sure it is lit and looks neat and tidy, why not add a few ‘homely’ items such as a companion or fireside set.  A fire not only make your guests feel at home but creates a cosy ambience too.

Make sure your menu reflects the season, why do you think the larger brands have dark and light night menu changes? It’s because they have done their homework. Do you really fancy a Chicken Caeser when it’s snowing outside or would a Sausage, Chorizo & Bean Casserole fit the bill a little better? Think winter warmers and you’re on to a winner!

Last but not least, make sure you add a few specials to your drinks list. Offer a Baileys or Cognac with coffee, serve a gourmet hot chocolate and remember to add a little taster on the side, maybe a brandy snap or a ginger biscuit, you will have them eating out of your hand and coming back for more! Good Luck 🙂

Crosstown Doughnuts go crazy for interchangeable signs!

crosstown doughnuts signsCrosstown Doughnuts is a rapidly expanding gourmet doughnut brand from London that prides themselves on hand made doughnuts that are not only delicious but made fresh everyday.  They rotate their flavours daily and with over 40 stockist in the London area that take a select range of flavours, they needed a range of premium signs that could be updated quickly, look traditional and fit in with their brand.

They decided that our Interchangeable A-board & Pegboard ticked their boxes!

Our interchangeable double sided A-board is crafted from steel and powder coated to withstand the wonderful British weather and provide years of service. The interchangeability magic is provided by magnetic vinyl slats that adhere to the metal board with ease.

The style of the a-board largely depends on the board colour you choose, brighter primary colours tend to be in keeping with modern brands like McDonalds whereas traditional colours are perfect for Harrods and Barbour. The magnetic slats can be matched to the colour of the board and the text printed in any style or colour you choose, making this sign completely bespoke and tailored for your business and brand.

The perfect partner for the interchangeable a-board is our quick changing retro pegboard, which offers a unique way to advertise your menu with removable letters and numbers that simply push into pre-formed holes. We offer a selection of characters in variety of sizes up to 47mm tall to allow your imagination to run wild and create the menu of your dreams and whilst you are being creative why not check out Crosstown Doughnuts and order some of their delicious gourmet doughnuts 🙂

What is a Tag Fixing on a Menu Cover?

(This is one of our most common and frequent questions!)

There are several ways in which a menu cover can retain your printed menus, hopefully this section will make it a little clearer for you and help you decide.

First let me introduce our tag fixings. This is simply a cord that holds a double clear pocket in place allowing you to insert your printed pages, the benefit of tag fixings is that the pockets constantly remain in place (unless you remove them!).  You can quickly add and remove your menu pages as you need.

This next picture demonstrates our ‘corner retainer’ fixing method, perfect for when just two viewing sides are needed although we can offer more if required. The menu is held in place with each corner offering a simply and stylish solution for two pieces of paper.

Elasticated tag fixings are shown in this menu folder, perfect for holding paper without the need for plastic pockets.  The paper simply slips behind the elasticated cord, ideally suited for just one piece of paper, our image shows A4 being used in a 1/2 A4 Portrait Menu Cover.

Our most popular selling menu cover is our folder with external screw fixings.  The screws are available in a choice of gold or silver and look fantastic with gold and silver printing. The benefits of this fixing method is that the pockets remain in place and it is only the menu that is changed which is a very quick and simple job.

Menu covers are usually one of the first impressions your guest will receive, you will have guided them to their tables, taken a drinks order and left them with your menu.  They will examine your menu from front to back including the cover! Make sure you make the right impression and leave them with a quality cover they will be impressed with but at the same time choose wisely, think about how often you change your menu, the image you are trying to portray and the environment it is used in.

I hope this section has been helpful but if you require any further advice please call our sales team on 01353 665141, they are experts on menu covers, folders and fixing methods, they are also happy to help and awaiting your call!
